I sure am grateful to be living in Canada these days and especially in Alberta! The downturn in the American housing market has had no direct impact on the Canadian real estate market, and although credit is tighter worldwide there is still excellent access to funds for Canadian borrowers with good credit. Today’s lower interest rates have also made the affordable homes in Edmonton even easier to purchase. The selection of homes is excellent, and some homes are vacant so purchasers who can offer a quick possession are in demand. For the first time in a long time, there is a good selection of quality homes for sale in the $200′s. That’s great news first time buyers! If you’re wondering how much home you can afford, calculate mortgage payments in a variety of price ranges and compare it to what you are paying in rent. You might be surprised how much you can afford!
