First 10 Days of June Show Strong Housing Market in Edmonton
We can tell the market is hopping by the way our phones have been ringing and all the SOLD signs we’ve been putting up around the city. When I took a look today at sales for the first ten days of June, there were some very interesting numbers indeed! From June 1 to June 10 this year there were 575 condo and single family homes sales in Edmonton*. This compares very favourably to the same period last year when just 337 properties sold. Going back one more year to 2007, there were 400 sales in the same time period. That’s a 70% increase over 2008 and a 44% increase over 2007. Those are pretty incredible numbers! True, it’s just one ten-day period but in my mind it confirms the trend we are seeing in the Edmonton housing market. Looking at the month of May, there were 19% more sales in 2009 than the same month in 2008, and the number of sales has increased each month since last December until today! The team at Schmidt had our highest sales ever in May/09 and we’re on track to put smiles on even more clients’ faces than ever before this June.
