Local Motion is a month long Community Demonstration Project which will set an example for cities around the world!
“This is a cross-departmental initiative that supports the City’s strategic plan to preserve and sustain Edmonton’s environment, transform Edmonton’s urban form and shift Edmonton’s transportation mode,” says Barry Anderson, Manager of the City’s Office of the Environment and Energy. “It also support’s the City’s Transportation Demand Management Program by piloting a number of initiatives that encourage citizens to try various eco-mobility options such as temporary bike lanes, bus pass incentives and community bikes.”

Over the course of the next few months, the City’s Office of Environment & Energy, Community Services, Transit and Transportation departments will work with the Parkallen community to transform it into a neighbourhood where a variety of elements of eco-mobility are brought together. This exciting initiative will put Edmonton on the world map once again!
