Alberta Wages Climb Faster than Average

According to people in the know, Alberta growth continues to be faster than the rest of Canada.  For the fifth month in a row, Alberta has posted employment gains and our jobless rate was just 5.4% in September.  

With nearly 100,000 new jobs created over the past year, Alberta employment growth has been on fire so far in 2011. But of the province’s two main cities, job growth in the capital has been far stronger.  Click here to read the full article from ATB Financial.

A Bank of Nova Scotia report says Canada’s housing market is bucking an international downward trend.  Ultra-low interest rates will continue to support affordability says Adrienne Warren, senior economist with Scotia Economics.  On balance, we anticipate a modest slowdown in the volume of sales transactions heading into year end, alongside relatively flat prices.

10,000 net newcomers moved to Alberta from other parts of Canada.  At that pace, Alberta is on track to record its strongest year for interprovincial migration since 2006, when more than 46,000 Canadians moved here, says ATB Financial economist Dan Sumner.

• … and if you look at the Median Days on Market for that same period of time instead of the Average, we actualy  sold 32% faster!  Just 23 days vs 34!
