Local Organization Helps Homeowners and the Edmonton Food Bank!
Our neighbour was on CBC radio this morning talking about a new organization called OPERATION FRUIT RESCUE EDMONTON! Rather than letting fruit go to waste, if you have fruit in your yard that needs picking, call this group!
One third of the fruit goes to the homeowner, one third to the volunteer fruit pickers, and one third to the food bank! I love it! Here is the link to learn more http://ofre.wordpress.com/about/

Shopping locally is good for the Edmonton economy!
Shopping local works! It’s the centerpiece of Chamber of Commerce campaigns aimed at fighting the recession, and a mantra that has been evoked by main street movers and shakers for decades. Economic studies by universities, think tanks and government agencies show that spending locally keeps cash in communities, creates jobs, produces local taxes, saves consumers time, money and gas and builds prosperity. Those same studies speak to the significant “multiplier effect” of a dollar spent locally and how it’s “re-invested” in the community over several business transactions. Supporting local small business saves time, money and gas, boost the local economy, helps your neighbours and builds a stronger economy! These days we’re all thinking carefully about how we spend our money. Why not spend yours toward building a stronger sustainable economy? Success builds success, and prosperous local businesses attract new investment and spur community prosperity. Contributed by Schmidt Realty Group client, Chris Martyniuk
Next time you’re thirsty or hungry, stop by Chris’s restaurant – Hulbert’s in Belgravia. You just might hear some great local musical talent as well!

Hulbert’s – a great local spot for food, wine and coffee!
It’s always fun to get to know our clients and find out what they love to do. We have had the pleasure of getting to know Chris and Cameron, the owners of Hulbert’s, and have also had the pleasure of enjoying the good food and fun atmosphere at their restaurant. HULBERT’s is sItuated in the heart of Belgravia near the University of Alberta, where local musicians share their talent while customers enjoy food and beverages in a relaxed setting. Check it out for yourself one day soon, and in the meantime, visit their website to hear about what’s coming up at Hulbert’s and to watch Chef Chris prepare a delicious barbeque sauce on City TV’s Breakfast Show! HULBERT’s, it’s a good place to meet!
Wherever possible, HULBERT’s uses locally produced and seasonal products that benefit our community and local economy.
